ABOUT MEWriter/ Producer/ EditorAnnie White is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, photographer, explorer, and biologist. She holds a B.A. in Animal Behavior & Conservation Biology from the University of Colorado and an M.F.A. in Science & Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University. Her career has taken her from collecting dinosaur fossils; to studying wild wolves; to crafting stories about and filming cougars, grizzly bears, and all manner of animals; to exploring the world’s oceans and filming never before seen deep-sea creatures. She specializes in taking films from early development and ideation all the way through production to delivery and media campaigns. Her credits include projects for NOAA, BBC, National Geographic WILD, Travel Channel, Smithsonian Channel, Curiosity Stream, ABC, Litton, Red Bull, GoPro, and numerous non-profit organizations.
Before becoming a filmmaker, Annie spent 6 years working as the education director and animal caretaker at a mountaintop wolf sanctuary, living in a tipi with over 90 captive wolves as neighbors. She also traveled with their national ambassador program, bringing live wolves into classrooms and museums across the country. In all of her work, Annie endeavors to bring together science, wildlife conservation, and compelling narratives to spark wonder and draw audiences into the lives of real animals. |
PRODUCTION COMPANY
PlayBow Studios
PlayBow Studios is a boutique wildlife film production company I founded in 2012. Were wolves, wildlife, and waves converge with the human experience in unexpected ways. Encompassing my work as an independent filmmaker and wildlife photographer, all of PlayBow Studios projects seek to explore the wild world, revealing its secrets to the most curious of minds. Whether tracking grizzlies through the Rockies, traveling the country with a pack of wolves, or diving into the unknown depths of the ocean, my goals are always the same: to capture the wonder and excitement of discovery, and spark a deep-rooted respect for our often misunderstood animal neighbors.
FILM & PHOTO
Recent Projects
Take a peak at some of my most recent projects both on land and at sea. While my heart has always belonged to the mountains and their charismatic megafauna, the six years I've spent sailing aboard NOAA ship Okeanos Explorer as a producer and cinematographer has opened my eyes to the beauty and abundance found in the deep sea and on the tiniest specks of the world's remote islands. I count myself incredibly lucky to have gotten to witness the some of the rarest wonders of this world, and can't wait to see what comes next.
